Our annual Swim-a-thon fundraiser event will be happening alongside our Christmas party celebration on Friday December 19. Swim-a-thon is our major fundraiser each season, with the money raised going towards the awards that are given out at our presentation night. All swimmers are encouraged to participate. At last year’s event, our swimmers amassed a combined total of over 30km and raised almost nearly $1000 for the club!
The club will be putting on a free BBQ for our members, but could you also bring a plate to share if you’re able? PARTY FOOD NOTE: Several of our members have food allergies (anaphylactic reaction), so please avoid bringing anything containing the following: poppy seeds, sesame seeds, fish and nuts.
Swimmers who return sponsorship money by the end of February 2026 will receive NINE bonus points in our season pointscore championship! Also, swimmers who aren’t able to attend on the night can still receive the nine point bonus by making a donation to the club in lieu of their sponsorship. Sponsorship forms (Word and PDF formats) are linked here.
During the Swim-a-thon, we’ll leave some lanes of the pool available for leisure swimming for the kids who aren’t participating or who have finished doing their laps. We’ll be needing some parents to volunteer to assist with counting laps. In previous years, we’ve had some swimmers try for very ambitious lap totals (with 100 laps being a target reached by a couple of our stronger swimmers).
Swim as many laps as you can, but remember Swim-a-thon is an endurance event, so please keep it safe and fun – only compete with yourself, not against your friends! Don’t forget that we must all be out of the centre by 8pm, so those swimmers who are wanting to try for BIG targets are encouraged to start early, even before 6pm if they’re able to line up somebody to count laps for them.
To avoid disappointment, please have your sponsorship form with you
on the night and make sure a parent/carer is on the pool deck.
To keep the event running smoothly, there are a few rules:
- Floaties allowed for beginner swimmers.
- Swimming aids including flippers, kickboards, etc are only permitted for legitimate medical reasons.
- Laps are continuous, in any swimming style, with only brief breaks to catch your breath or a drink. Loo trips also allowed.
- Walking laps, long breaks and stop/starting mid-way get the thumbs down!
- When sharing a lane with others keep to the left.
If you’re not up to swimming, we still need your support!!!
If you can help out as a lap counter, a pool guard at the deep end,
please let us know beforehand or volunteer on the night.
Remember ALL the money raised benefits ALL club members
